Burman Real Estate (BRE) is a forward-thinking real estate development firm led by founder and president Scott Burman. With more than 25 years of experience in real estate development and construction, Scott has built a reputation for delivering high-profile projects across multiple sectors including multifamily housing, senior living, healthcare, retail, and mixed-use developments.
Scott has been at the helm of development and construction efforts totaling approximately $3 billion in completed projects. His leadership is rooted in a comprehensive understanding of the development process—from concept to completion—paired with a passion for revitalizing communities across Long Island and the greater New York metropolitan area.
Before founding BRE, Scott spent over two decades at Engel Burman. As president of construction, Scott scaled and led a hundred-man team, where he developed a unique perspective on the real estate landscape and helped shape a plethora of successful projects. In 2023, he launched BRE to pursue new adventures and his personal vision: to create spaces that meet the evolving needs of communities in a time of rapid change across housing, commerce, transportation, and healthcare.
Scott is an ardent believer in the importance of giving back to the Long Island community. Close to his heart is the Long Island Children’s Museum, where he serves as chair of the board of trustees. Additionally, Scott is a board member of the Real Estate Institute at Stony Brook University, a board member and past president of the Long Island Real Estate Group, and serves on the Community Advisory Board of the Long Island Power Association.
Sharing his expertise and insights with the next generation of business leaders is another give-back opportunity Scott relishes. He has been a guest lecturer at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University as well as at the Stony Brook University School of Business. As a forum officer for YPO, a global leadership community of chief executives, Scott has benefited from the shared experiences and mentoring opportunities presented through his affiliation with this vibrant international community.
Scott continues to channel his decades of experience, business acumen and considerable local and regional insight into purposeful, community-focused development that will help insure the future success of Long Island as an outstanding place to live and work.
